The 2018 edition of the Hollin Hills House Tour will be held on April 28. The excursion, which is a self-guided walking tour, promises a look at the distinctive planned neighborhood of Hollin Hills and its collection of midcentury modern architecture. Deadline for Docomomo US's Modernism in America Awards Approaching
There are just a few days left before EARLY REGISTRATION closes for the 2018 Modernism in America Awards. Do you know a person, firm, or project that is deserving of recognition for incredible work? Docomomo DC hosts Mod Mixer at the Watergate
Thank you to everyone who made it out for Docomomo DC's Mod Mixer at the Next Whisky Bar, situated within the historic Watergate Hotel–which, incidentally, was the focus of our 2015 Tour Day. We're thrilled to have had such wonderful mid-week turnout from those who appreciate mid-century modern architecture as well as folks who just like drinking in igloos. Docomomo DC Lecture at NCPC
Docomomo DC board president Tom Jester and member Deane Madsen were invited to speak on the subject of Brutalism at the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC) on January 11. As it happens, the NCPC's executive director, Marcel Acosta, attended our 2017 Tour Day, Rediscovering Brutalism. With so many of the buildings under his agency's purview relating to this period of Modernism, Acosta invited Docomomo DC to host a lecture on Brutalist architecture for the NCPC office.
