Join Docomomo DC and the AIA’s Architects Foundation at the Octagon Museum for a free happy hour and chance to experience an exhibit featuring the work of architect and artist Victor Lundy, FAIA. The exhibit, Victor Lundy: Educating an Architect + Preservation of Modern Architecture, is an immersive gallery showcase highlighting drawings, images, and works from Lundy’s Beaux-Arts and Bauhaus education as well as his service during World War II. Architecture & Design Film Festival at the National Building Museum, Feb 21-24
The Architecture & Design Film Festival (ADFF) returns to the National Building Museum from February 21-24 this year, marking the second annual D.C. edition of the event. Of particular note for Modernism enthusiasts are films on architects Albert Frey (paired with a short on Charlotte Perriand) and 2018 Pritzker Prize winner Balkrishna Doshi, whose first job was building Chandigarh with Le Corbusier. The festival will also showcase a look at the influential Barcelona Pavilion


AIA|DC to Host Commission of Fine Arts "Changing Values" Panel, Feb. 4
AIA|DC will host "Changing Values," a panel investigating decades of design issues reviewed by the Commission of Fine Arts on February 4. Former CFA Assistant Secretary Don Myer, FAIA, and CFA Secretary Thomas Luebke, FAIA, will discuss Pennsylvania Avenue (site of Docomomo DC's 2018 Tour Day), the Southwest Waterfront, and the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture.
