AIA|DC to Host Commission of Fine Arts "Changing Values" Panel, Feb. 4
AIA|DC will host "Changing Values," a panel investigating decades of design issues reviewed by the Commission of Fine Arts on February 4. Former CFA Assistant Secretary Don Myer, FAIA, and CFA Secretary Thomas Luebke, FAIA, will discuss Pennsylvania Avenue (site of Docomomo DC's 2018 Tour Day), the Southwest Waterfront, and the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Myer and Luebke will also broach the subject of memorial design, including Maya Lin's sublime Vietnam Veterans War Memorial and the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial (currently under construction), both of which faced years of scrutiny for their non-traditional takes on commemorative structures.

WHERE: AIA|DC's District Architecture Center, 421 7th St NW, Washington, DC 20004
HOW: Free for Assoc. AIA, AIA, and DAC Members; $25 for Non-Members. Registration required via AIA|DC.
