A Picnic, a Park, and a Little Golf

Join Docomomo DC on October 17th for a casual morning at East Potomac Park as part of Docomomo US Tour Day, exploring the history, landscape, and architecture of one of Washington’s most distinctive and often overlooked parks.

We’ll gather for coffee, bagels, and a picnic-style conversation about the making of East Potomac Park and its evolution as a place for recreation, landscape, and public life. The short talk will touch on the park’s origins as a man-made landscape, its relationship to the McMillan Plan, its early recreational facilities, and some of the park’s notable historic buildings and structures.

After the talk, stick around to enjoy the park at your own pace. Try your hand at the historic miniature golf course, take a walk, explore the landscape, or simply relax along the Potomac. Come for the architecture, stay for the bagels and maybe a round of mini-golf.

This is a relaxed, informal gathering rather than a traditional walking tour. Bring a blanket or chair if you’d like, and feel free to make a morning of it.
